Marlins announce Minor League 2022 field staffs

The Marlins on Monday announced their Minor League field staffs for the 2022 season. The organization’s prospects are scheduled to report to Minor League camp this week in Jupiter, Fla.

The player development staff is headlined by three new additions with Major League coaching experience: Tom Slater will be the senior advisor/hitting coordinator (Mets hitting coach 2018-21), Dave Eiland will be Double-A Pensacola’s pitching coach (Yankees ’08-10, Royals ’11-17, Mets ’18-19) and Daren Brown will be Triple-A Jacksonville’s skipper (Mariners interim manager ’10). Slater and Brown take over for Edwar González and Al Pedrique, respectively. González joined the MLB staff as assitant hitting coach, while Pedrique is the new third-base/infield coach.

The staffs also include five women serving as athletic trainers at four levels: Melissa Hampton (Pensacola), Jessica Cook (High-A Beloit), Christina Padilla and Shelby Perry (Florida Complex League) and Jennefer Torres (DSL Marlins 2).
