With Canada’s tight COVID mandates, MLB teams won’t have their unvaccinated players playing games in Toronto this season, and that may affect the Yankees greatly.

Talking with reporters on Sunday at the Yankees’ spring training facility in Tampa, manager Aaron Boone called the possibility of not having players traveling to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays “a concern.”

“We still have a few guys at least who are not vaccinated,” Boone said.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman said that the Yankees would miss “a chunk” of the middle of their order if certain players remain unvaccinated this season. Of course, the “middle” of the Yankees’ lineup last season consisted of players like Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Joey Gallo and Luke Voit but it’s unknown who is and isn’t vaccinated on the team.
