March 17: RHP Alex Colomé signed a one-year contract
Bud Black did not name Colomé the closer, even though that’s what the right-hander has done much of his career, nor did the manager commence a competition for the job. While he has ideas, Black said what’s important is that Colomé joins Daniel Bard and Carlos Estévez at the back of the bullpen. — Thomas Harding

March 17: RHP Scott Oberg placed on the 60-day IL
