Saints End Seven Game Stretch over Four Days

Bellevue, NE – The Presentation College Saints fell in both games of their doubleheader to the Bellevue Bruins, falling 11-3 and 9-1, both in five innings. The two losses drop the Saints to 11-23 overall and 5-14 in conference play. The Bruins improve to 36-11 and 22-2. The games today finished up a four day stretch where the Saints played seven conference games.

Game One

The Bruins opened the scoring in game one with three runs in the second. They then added to their lead with one in the third. The Saints battled back with two in the fourth on a Cassy Loa two RBI double, one of her two hits on the day. But Bellevue would respond with four runs in the bottom of the inning. After the Saints scored a run in the fifth on a Sarah Shevenell single, the Bruins would end the game by scoring three runs in the bottom half. Along with Loa, Camille Vestal also had a pair of hits, two singles.

Yulissa Pena was the pitcher for the Saints, as she went four innings. She allowed 11 hits and 11 runs, 10 of which were earned.

Game Two 

In game two the Btuins got out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the first. they would then add on with five in the second and another in the third. The Saints got on the board with a Skye Carter RBI single. That was one of the Saints two hits in the game, with the other being a third inning single by Kenzie Kuxhaus. The Bruins would end the game by scoring two runs in the fifth.

Sarah Shevenell pitched for the Saints, going 4.2 innings. She allowed eight hits and nine runs, but only four of the runs were earned. She struck out five and walked five.

Up Next – The Saints will host a doubleheader against VCSU on Thursday, April 28.
