Penn State Meets Iowa On Wednesday To Open Big Ten Tournament


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State baseball team is set to open the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday, taking on Iowa at 10 a.m. ET. The Nittany Lions, the No. 6 seed, battle the Hawkeyes, the No. 3 seed, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
 
Penn State, led by Rob Cooper, concluded the regular season with a 25-27 overall record and 11-13 mark in Big Ten play. The Nittany Lions won conference series against Purdue, Minnesota and Michigan State (sweep) and earned one win in each series against Maryland, Northwestern, Rutgers and Ohio State.
 
Iowa, coached by Rick Heller, is 33-17 overall and went 17-7 in Big Ten play.
 
The teams have only met one time in the Big Ten Tournament with Penn State earning a 5-3 win on May 24, 2007.
