Wildcats Take Down Beavers, 3-1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – In Arizona’s 100th game at the Women’s College World Series, the Wildcats (39-21) beat Oregon State (39-22), 3-1 in Friday’s elimination game. The Wildcats scored three runs on six hits, with three RBI.
 
Carlie Scupin went a season best 3-for-3 with one RBI. Sophia Carroll hit her sixth double of the season to drive in one run for the Cats. Blaise Biringer also had an RBI in the win.
 
Oregon State scored one run in the second on a sacrifice fly. Sophia Carroll tied the game in the bottom of the second on a double that sent home Blaise Biringer to give the Wildcats a two-run lead.
 
It was a pitcher’s duel in the middle of the game, with Netz allowing only two baserunners and retiring nine to keep Oregon State scoreless.
 
Carlie Scupin broke the tie with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Blaise Biringer followed Scupin with an RBI single.
 
Netz struck out four Beavers and retired six straight batters, allowing one run. Hanah Bowen entered in relief for Netz in the sixth to pick up the win and improve to 14-11. Bowen retired four straight and allowing one walk.
