The Statesboro Regional of the 2022 NCAA baseball tournament began Friday at Georgia Southern.
The Eagles are hosting the regional as a No. 16 national seed.
The winner of the Statesboro Regional will play the winner of the Knoxville Regional in the NCAA super regionals next week.
Play on the first day ended early with inclement weather.
One game was completed Friday as Notre Dame defeated Texas Tech, 3-2, after multiple delays.
Georgia Southern had its contest against UNC Greensboro postponed until Saturday.
The Eagles captured an 8-0 win, advancing to play Notre Dame.
The Fighting Irish (37-14) overcame two deficits to defeat Georgia Southern, 6-4.
The Red Raiders (38-21) eliminated UNC Greensboro (34-31) with a 2-0 victory Saturday.
Texas Tech will play the Eagles (41-19) in an elimination game Sunday at 2 p.m. EDT.
The winner of that game advances to the regional final against Notre Dame.
