Davis. Heyman adds that the Mets could deal those bats in order to bolster their pitching staff, but they “haven’t heard anything yet to their liking.”nnMcNeil was a 2019 All-Star, and Smith received MVP votes for his performance during the shortened 2020 season, but both had below-average offensive seasons last year. McNeil missed more than a month due to a hamstring strain and produced only a .669 OPS in 88 games after he returned in June. Smith hit 11 homers in 145 games, only one more than he had through 50 games in 2020. Davis has recorded a 128 OPS+ over the past three seasons, but hand and wrist injuries limited him to just 73 games last year. Mets are listening on some vets. Haven’t heard anything yet to their liking for Jeff McNeil, Dom Smith or JD Davis. Trade market makes sense for Mets as starting pitching list is getting thin, and new 80% tax on super big spenders (over $290M) is onerous even for the super rich.
