Renegades Win 2-1 – OurSports Central

HVR Game Notes - June 3, 2022

July 2, 2022 – South Atlantic League (SAL)Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – Three Hudson Valley Renegades pitchers combined to limit the Brooklyn Cyclones to two hits in a 2-1 win on Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium.

The game was the third two-hitter thrown by the Renegades this season, with all three coming against the Cyclones. Hudson Valley has also thrown a one-hitter against Brooklyn this season.

After Brooklyn starter Luis Moreno retired the first 11 Renegades batters of the night, Tyler Hardman launched a solo home run to right-center, giving Hudson Valley a 1-0 lead. The long ball was Hardman’s team-leading 10th of the season.

Yoendrys Gómez pitched well in his third start with the Renegades, tossing 3.1 innings of hitless ball, walking one and striking out three. The right-hander set new season-highs in innings pitched and strikeouts.

In the top of the fifth, the Cyclones tied the game when Jhonatan Muñoz hit Joe Suozzi with a pitch, and an errant pickoff attempt allowed Suozzi to score all the way from first base. That unearned run was the only blemish against Muñoz (3-1) in 3.1 innings of relief.

Hudson Valley answered in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead against Moreno (0-3). Eduardo Torrealba reached on a fielder’s choice, advanced to second on an errant pickoff try and scored on a Trey Sweeney RBI single.

Ryan Miller earned his first save of the season by shutting Brooklyn down across 2.1 innings to finish the game.

Pat DeMarco finished 2-for-3 with a double, and now has hits in nine of his last 10 games.

The Renegades complete their series with the Cyclones on Sunday night at Dutchess Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. with a Super Fireworks Show to follow as part of the Renegades’ Independence Day celebration. LHP T.J. Sikkema (0-1, 3.32) gets the start for Hudson Valley, with RHP Carson Seymour (0-3, 3.91) going for Brooklyn. For tickets and more information, visit www.hvrenegades.com.
