ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Indians looked destined to finish out a comeback victory after erasing three deficits and scoring four in the eighth to take a 6-5 advantage, but the Mud Hens rallied with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to bring across two runs and walk it off, 7-6. Spencer Torkleson put the Mud Hens up early with a solo home run in the first inning. The Indians evened the score in the third, courtesy of an RBI double by Tucupita Marcano that was grounded down the line and took a fortunate bounce off first base and into the outfield. Derek Hill homered for Toledo to regain the lead in the fifth, before it was quicky erased by an RBI triple by Travis Swaggerty. Toledo earned their largest lead of the contest after scoring three in the seventh – highlighted by a two-run double by Josh Lester. Down three runs, a Hoy Park walk and Rodolfo Castro double set up a two-run double by Swaggerty to put the the Indians within one. Now facing a 5-4 deficit, with two outs and runners on the corners, Mason Martin lifted a ball deep into the night sky that was lost by left fielder Kerry Carpenter and plated the tying and go-ahead runs. The Mud Hens were down to their final out in the ninth when Torkleson drew a walk and a misplayed fly ball to Swaggerty extended the inning to bring Brendon Davis to the plate. Davis ripped the first pitch he saw into the right-center gap to walk off the Indians, 7-6.

WHEN YOU’RE HOT, YOU’RE HOT: Tucupita Marcano doubled last night to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He has a hit in 10 of 11 games – three multi-hit games – with Indianapolis since being optioned by Pittsburgh on July 5. He has shined as Indy’s leadoff hitter, reaching base safely in all 11 games and has reached 21 times (14 hits, 7 walks) in 52 plate appearances, good for a .404 on-base percentage. Marcano has walked seven times compared to eight strikeouts, putting the ball in play over 80-percent of the time.
