Former Clemson assistant finds new home

Another former Clemson coach under head coach Monte Lee has found a new home since the Tiger’s coaching change back in June.

Volunteer assistant coach Jared Broughton shared via Twitter on Monday that he will join the Winthrop Eagles baseball program as an assistant coach this upcoming spring following his three-season tenure at Clemson.

Prior to his time with the Tigers, Broughton was the associate head coach at Piedmont, a Division III school in Georgia, from 2017-19 and spent three seasons (2014-16) as an assistant coach at Earlham, a Division III school in Indiana. The Indianapolis, Ind. native has had 7 winning seasons in his 8 years of coaching on the college level.

In his playing days, Broughton spent two seasons with the Dayton baseball program (2012,13), helping the Flyers win their first Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Championship in 2012 and the program’s first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his time at Dayton, Broughton spent two seasons (2009,10) at Vicennes Junior College in Indiana, where he was apart of the program’s first NJCAA World Series team appearance in 2010.
