Smokies Drop Series Opener to Lookouts, 6-2

Smokies Power Past Barons 10-5

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Smokies (69-62, 32-30) dropped the first game of their series with the Chattanooga Lookouts (57-73, 23-28) 6-1 Tuesday night at AT&T Field. The Lookouts jumped out to a four-run lead early and did not look back.


Chattanooga got on the board first with a pair of solo home runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Lookouts extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run RBI triple to give them a 4-0 lead.

Cole Roederer got the Smokies on the board with a solo home run of his own in the fifth inning for Tennessee’s first hit and run of the game. The Lookouts, however, came right back, scoring one run in the home half of the fifth.

Smokies’ starter Chris Clarke (L, 7-5) was charged with his fifth loss of the season after going five innings in which he allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out seven and walking one. Peyton Remy, Ben Hecht and Kyle Johnson finished out the remainder of the game for the Smokies on the mound, combining for three innings, two hits and one run allowed.
