Team Pry Defeats Team Sandy To Force Decisive Game 3

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Freshman Jesse Jaconski’s ripped a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the sixth to lead Team Pry to a 6-1 win over Team Sandy on Wednesday afternoon to force decisive Game 3 at UNC’s Fall World Series.

The teams will play Friday at 3 p.m. to determine the winner.

Just as they did in Game 1 on Tuesday, the teams exchanged first inning solo home runs with Vance Honeycutt homering for Team Sandy and Mac Horvath for Team Pry.

Alberto Osuna broke the tie in the third inning with an RBI double into right-center field, scoring Patrick Alvarez from first base.

That run proved to be the difference in the game as Team Pry’s pitching trio of Connor Boviar, Cameron Padgett and Kyle Percival held the opposition to one run on four hits while striking out seven.

Bovair got the start and struck out five in 3.2 innings followed by Padgett, who struck out a pair in 2.1 innings pitched. Percival closed the game without allowing a hit in the final 1.1 innings.

Graduate transfer Kevin Eaise started for Team Sandy and struck out four in 3.0 innings, while Dalton Pence pitched 2.1 innings, and Matt Poston and Carson Starnes tossed 0.1 inning each.

Tomas Frick collected two hits for Team Pry and scored its third run when Eric Grintz laced a single to right-center field in the sixth inning.
