DURHAM – Duke baseball and the Durham Rescue Mission continues its long standings partnership, as members of the Blue Devils squad will assist in sorting and wrapping Christmas gifts for their annual toy drive.
“We are beyond pumped to join Durham Rescue Mission tomorrow in supporting their annual toy drive,” head coach Chris Pollard said. “Servant leadership is a hallmark of our Duke Baseball program, and I can think of no better partner than the mission. We are grateful for this opportunity.”
ABOUT THE DURHAM RESCUE MISSION TOY DRIVE
The Durham Rescue Mission is in need of toys for boys and girls of all ages 12 years old or younger. While shopping for your Christmas, remember to pick up an extra toy, book, or game for a needy child. By donating a new toy this Christmas, you can put a smile on the face of thousands of needy children in the Triangle attending the Durham Rescue Mission’s Annual Christmas Event. For many, this may be the only toy they will receive this Christmas.
“We’re excited to have the guys from Duke Baseball volunteer time out of their busy schedule to help provide hope to the hopeless and cheer to the depressed,” Vice president of development for Durham Rescue Mission, Ernie C. Mills Jr. said. “Hundreds of families will be coming to the Durham Rescue Mission hoping to receive toys for their children. We are looking forward to the guys helping us sort, inventory and bag the toys that are already beginning to be donated Wednesday.”
