Duke Baseball Adds Mid-Year Transfer


DURHAM – Duke baseball announced the addition of mid-year transfer Giovanni DiGiacomo to the 2023 roster on Tuesday.
 
“We are really excited to welcome Giovanni DiGiacomo to Durham,” head coach Chris Pollard said. “Gio comes to us after a really successful career at LSU. He brings speed, tremendous instincts, experience and a veteran left-handed bat to the roster. More importantly, Coach Manieri and Coach Johnson at LSU rave about his leadership and selfless style of play.”

An experienced left-handed outfielder from LSU, DiGiacomo posted a .275 average at the plate for the Tigers in his four seasons. The former 29th round draft pick in 2018 by the Pittsburgh Pirates, started 92 of the 133 career games he appeared in, tallying 12 doubles, three triples, six homers and 48 RBI. The Naples, Fla. native, was a member of the 2021 and 2020 SEC Academic Honor Roll, and the 2019 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll as a microbiology major.
