Drew Conover is ready to make an impact for Rutgers baseball

Right-handed pitcher Drew Conover is ready to make an impact for Rutgers baseball after transferring from Seton Hall and he is getting some serious offseason traction in the media.

Conover pitched two seasons for the Seton Hall Pirates, combining for a 5.74 ERA. The Pirates used Conover as a reliever out of the bullpen, pitching 42.1 innings in two seasons. In 26 games pitched, the new Scarlet Knight had 50 strikeouts, 27 earned runs, 37 walks, and finished with a 2-2 record.

During the off-season, Drew pitched for the Cape Cod League, where he developed his game. While in the Cape Cod League, Conover recorded a 1.50 ERA in 18 innings, along with three saves. His effective play earned him a spot in the 2022 Cape Cod League All-Star game. 

Drew’s parents are Rutgers alumni, helping Rutgers baseball land him as a recruitment.

The Jersey native from Voorhees High School has a powerful sinker and slider. Drew relies on his sinker and slider, getting batters to chase out of the zone. Owens can use Drew as a closer, a starter, a long-relief, or a setup pitcher. His flexible role brings a ton of value to Rutgers baseball. According to D1Baseball.com, Drew is ranked as the No. 87 transfer in the baseball transfer portal. 

How can Conover impact Rutgers Baseball?

 Development is a priority for Conover as he tries to improve his MLB draft stock after being named in the top-300 2023 MLB Draft prospect. The Rutgers transfer is ranked 232th on the 2023 MLB Draft prospects board. In 2022, Conover got selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 20th round (pick No. 597).
