Baseball Falls at BYU Tuesday, 7-0

PROVO, Utah – The Utah baseball team fell in a 7-0 game on Tuesday at BYU’s Miller Park.
 
Utah (7-9) returns to Pac-12 Conference play on Friday, opening a three-game series vs. Arizona State at Smith’s Ballpark with a 6 p.m. MT contest.
 
TJ Clarkson had the lone hit of the game for the Utes, legging out an infield single during the top of the sixth inning. It extended Clarkson’s reached-base streak to 12 consecutive games, now a team-best.
 
BYU took a 1-0 lead during the home half of the first on a sac fly from Austin Deming, scoring Ozzie Pratt after a leadoff double.
 
In the third, the Cougars stretched the lead with a three-spot and moved the score to 5-0 on a solo homer in the sixth by Jacob Wilk. BYU wrapped up the scoring for the day with two more runs in the eighth inning.
 
Clarkson, who also started the game on the mound, took the loss for Utah (1-1).
