Gators hosting Bethune-Cookman for midweek tilt

NOTES: Tejeda has made three starts so far this season and they have followed a similar pattern. He gets through two innings without much trouble and then things fall apart in the third or fourth. He’s never recorded an out past the third inning, but this could be the game that all changes.

There’s no Nolan Schanuel – Florida Atlantic’s first baseman who shelled him for two homers on March 6 – on the Wildcats, and Tejeda showed strikeout stuff against Jacksonville.

Alec Mendez is a name some of the Gators should be familiar with. He pitched an inning of each game Bethune-Cookman played against Florida a season ago. While he saw success in his first outing, the Gators got to him for three runs on two hits and four walks later on in the year.

It could be a short night at Condron Family Ballpark if Mendez can’t control his pitches early on.
