Tigers make quick work of Nicholls in midweek win

It was business as usual for LSU in its midweek game — another run-rule victory as the Tigers beat Nicholls 12-2 in seven innings.

Nicholls scored the first run of the ball game when they scored on an RBI double in the top of the second inning to give them their only lead of the game.

LSU answered back in the bottom of the third as the Tigers plated five runs thanks to a sacrifice fly from Gavin Dugas, a wild pitch, and a Tommy White three-run homer to make it 5-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, LSU scored two more runs as Alex Milazzo hit an RBI single and Dugas hit an RBI double to make it 7-1. In the top of the fifth, Nicholls got one of those runs back on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 7-2. In the bottom of the fifth, Jared Jones hit a long homer to left to give LSU an 8-2 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Dugas hit an RBI triple, Tre Morgan hit a sacrifice fly for an RBI, and White hit a two-run blast to right field to give LSU a 12-2 lead. The Tigers would prevent Nicholls from scoring in the top of the seventh and the Tigers won via run rule.

LSU will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, this Thursday to take on the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks in what should be a very interesting series.
