CHICAGO – University of Chicago softball’s Julia Folkl was recently named to the 2023 Tucci/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Player and Pitcher of the Year watchlist.
A total of 141 players from 10 geographic regions within NCAA Division III garnered a spot on the watchlist. The NFCA Player of the Year award was created in 2016, and the NFCA Pitcher of the Year honor originated in 2019.
Folkl currently leads the Maroons with a .410 batting average, 17 RBI and five doubles. The senior is also the starting catcher for a pitching staff that owns a 2.09 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 137 innings. UChicago sports a 14-5-1 record on the season.
