Terps Top Hawkeyes, 5-2, in Game One of Doubleheader

IOWA CITY, IA – Maryland edged out Iowa, 5-2, to take the win in game one of their Friday doubleheader and the first game of their three-game series. These well-matched Big Ten squads kept it close early, but key plays on offense ultimately put the Terps on top. With the win, Maryland improves to 28-12 (5-7 BIG) while Iowa moves to 26-16 (7-5).

Trinity Schlotterbeck threw 6.1 dominant innings in the circle, only giving up two runs and six hits. The senior also pitched back-to-back-to-back one-two-three innings in the third, fourth, and fifth. Keira Bucher tossed the final two outs to secure the whole-team victory.

The pitcher Schlotterbeck also played a big role in the batter’s box, recording two walks, one hit, two RBIs, and one run scored. Kiley Goff had a walk and hit of her own, along with two runs scored. Jaeda McFarland and Michaela Jones slapped Maryland’s other hits in this game.
