Top-Seeded Seminoles Begin Quest for 19th ACC Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State softball team (47-8, 22-2) heads to Notre Dame, Ind., for the 2023 ACC Tournament. The Seminoles go in as the top seed after claiming the 2023 ACC Regular Season Championship last Friday against Louisville. The Seminoles will face Syracuse at 11 a.m. tomorrow on the ACC Network.

The Seminoles are looking for their 19th ACC Tournament Championship this week as they have won seven out of the last eight championships including last year’s tournament.

The Seminoles and the Orange met in Tallhassee back on Mar 17-19 where the Seminoles swept the Orange and outscored Syracuse 23-1 in three games.

ACC Tournament History

  • Florida State has won 18 ACC Tournament Championships with their first coming in 1992.
  • FSU has won seven out of the last eight ACC Tournament Championships
  • FSU is 73-20 (.784) all-time in the ACC Tournament, outscoring their opponents 449-185.
  • FSU is looking to sweep the ACC Regular Season Championship and the ACC Tournament Championship for the 14th time in school history. The Seminoles last did this in 2019.
  • FSU is 32-5 in the ACC Tournament since Lonni Alameda became the head coach in 2009. In that time period FSU won eight of the 14 ACC Titles.

ACC Regular Season Champs

  • The Seminoles cruised through their ACC conference schedule on their way to their 14th ACC Regular Season Championship.
  • The Seminoles went 22-2 in conference play, all against teams in the ACC Tournament.
  • The Seminoles went 8-1 against the ACC’s three other ranked teams and outscored them 56-20.

Seminoles’ Dominance in the ACC

  • The Seminoles have dominated the ACC over the past decade.
  • The Seminoles have won an ACC Championship (Regular Season/Tournament) in eight out of the past nine seasons.
  • Under Head Coach Lonni Alameda, the Seminoles are 170-37-1 against the Seminoles’ eight ACC opponents this season.
  • The Seminoles have only lost five ACC series since 2012.
  • The Noles are the only ACC team to win a National Title as the Seminoles brought home the title in 2018.
