Noles Host No. 1 Wake Forest

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida State hosts the No. 1 team in baseball this weekend when Wake Forest comes to Tallahassee for a three-game series. The Demon Deacons – ranked No. 1 for the first time in school history – are 18-5 in the ACC and 40-7 overall. The Seminoles will recognize four graduates and senior athletes – Nander De Sedas, Colton Vincent, Brandon Walker and Brennen Oxford – in a ceremony prior to Saturday’s game.

Friday night’s game will start at 6:00 p.m. with Saturday’s game slated for 3:00 p.m. and Sunday’s match-up at 1:00 p.m. All three games this weekend will be streamed live on ACCNX. Fans in Tallahassee can listen on WFLA 100.7 FM or around the country through the FSU Gameday or Varsity Network apps.

The FSU baseball team is coming off a four-game hot streak, after beating Jacksonville, 6-4, Tuesday night, as they look forward to this weekend to face No. 1 Wake Forest.

Sophomore Jackson Baumeister is set to make his 13th start of the season for game one of the series against Wake Forest on Friday night. Last weekend, after allowing a pair of runs in the first inning, Baumeister allowed zero runs over the next six. He also matched his career-high 7.0 innings pitched and added eight strikeouts to push his season total to 83, the most on the team.

Conner Whittaker will start for the Noles in Saturday’s contest for his seventh of the season. Whittaker allowed just three hits and struck out seven over a career-high 8.0 innings, the longest for a Seminole this season, in his start last weekend against Mercer.

Sophomore Jaime Ferrer continues to lead the FSU offense with a .342 batting average through forty-seven games. After Tuesday’s game against Jacksonville, Ferrer added three more hits, and now leads FSU with 68 on the season, including his 20th double of the year to top his freshman season total.

Also on offense, DeAmez Ross tied a career high with three hits Tuesday night, including a leadoff home run and the go-ahead single in the eighth inning against Jacksonville. Ross finished with a solo home run and two singles, scored three runs and had two…
