Amy Hogue Receives Contract Extension Through 2028

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Head Softball Coach Amy Hogue has signed a contract extension through June of 2028, Director of Athletics Mark Harlan announced on Monday. Hogue is fresh off guiding her Utes to a Pac-12 Tournament Championship during the 2023 campaign, as well as the program’s first Women’s College World Series appearance since 1994.

“Coming off such a memorable and historic season by our softball program, I’m excited to announce a contract extension for Amy Hogue,” said Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics. “The tremendous leadership she has provided over her 16 years as head coach reached new heights in 2023, and I’m thrilled that the all-time winningest coach in program history will continue to build on that record coaching at her alma mater.”

The former All-American and Utah Athletics Hall of Fame member is preparing for her 17th season at the helm of Utah Softball, holding an overall record of 440-393, making her the winningest coach in program history. She also logged the 600th victory of her coaching career in 2023.

I’ve loved all that comes along with the role of head coach, and to have a chance to lead these amazing young women at my alma mater for another five years is an absolute honor.

“The excitement surrounding the team and the successes that we were able to share with the department and the community this past season have been absolutely phenomenal. I look forward to building on that excitement and continuing the journey with these student athletes and their pursuit of excellence in the years to come.

Hogue’s 2023 Utes rolled up 42 victories, the fourth-highest total in school history, posted the program’s third-best win percentage and piled up 15 wins in Pac-12 play, the most they’ve achieved since joining the conference in 2012. Hogue also saw eight of her pupils selected for all-conference and all-region honors, the most in program history for a single season, and Ellessa Bonstrom and Mariah Lopez were both named All-Americans.
