Tigers reminisce on 2023 national championship

Tigers land 2025 RHP/OF Reagan Ricken

There are only 50 more days until opening day for college baseball. The LSU Tigers will start their national title defense on Feb. 16, against VMI. The Tigers will play in a four-game weekend series as they take on VMI twice and Central Arkansas twice at Alex Box Stadium.

While LSU no longer has Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews (who went No. 1 and No. 2 overall in the 2023 MLB draft), Jay Johnson has assembled a very talented team through high school recruiting and via the transfer portal. Tommy White is back and he is here to hit homers once again. Thatcher Hurd is back ready to deal out some nasty pitches as well.

LSU finished 2023 with a 54-17 overall record and a 19-10 record in conference play. The Tigers won the national championship after taking two out of three games from the Florida Gators in the College World Series. I think LSU has a great shot at doing it again this year.
