Snead Earns Spot on NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List


DALLAS – Tennessee sophomore pitcher Nate Snead has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.

Snead has been one of the Volunteers most reliable arms out of the bullpen this season, posting a 6-1 record with a team-high three saves while leading all relievers with 42.2 innings pitched in 13 appearances. The sophomore righthander has racked up 35 strikeouts, as well, which is the most among relief pitchers and fourth overall on the team.

The Wisconsin native’s 3.37 ERA is also tops among UT relievers with at least 15 innings pitched while his six victories lead the team and are tied for fifth most in the Southeastern Conference.

Snead, who was also on the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List, is one of 59 players that was named to the midseason list which included 11 SEC representatives.

The Stopper of the Year Award is presented annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball. The full midseason watch list can be found by clicking HERE.

The NCBWA will announce the finalists on Wednesday, June 5 with the winner being named on Friday, June 14 at the 2024 Men’s College World Series.
