LSU baseball still outside of national polls after 2nd series win

Two SEC teams made a solid statement last week during conference play, the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Those two teams got their shot at two of the best teams in the country, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. South Carolina welcomed the No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats into Columbia, South Carolina last weekend and after winning the first game in extra innings, the Gamecocks dropped game two 15-13. Game three would be a different story. It was all Carolina as the Gamecocks won via run-rule as they beat the Wildcats 10-0.

Mississippi State would travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to take on a top-ten Vanderbilt team. They lost Game 1 of the series 4-0 but the Bulldogs fought back in Game 2 for a 7-4 victory and then hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to beat Vandy in Game 3 8-7.

The biggest series this weekend will be No. 2 Arkansas at No. 8 Kentucky.

LSU meanwhile won its second straight SEC series but is still on the outside looking in for the national polls. Speaking of, here’s how they look in Week 11.
