Morgan Smith Named No. 1 Two-Way Player In Softball America May Position Rankings

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Morgan Smith was named the No. 1 two-way player among Division I softball student-athletes according to Softball America, it was announced on Thursday in their May position power rankings.

Smith, a senior from Phoenix, Arizona, is currently in the top 10 nationally in home runs and RBIs hitting .414 with 92 strikeouts in the circle.

The Scarlet Knight is tied for first in the Big Ten and seven nationally with 19 home runs and leads the league, is sixth nationally and holds the RU record with 65 RBIs to-date.

Additionally, Smith is second in the Big Ten in slugging percentage (.892), third in batting average (.414) and hits (65) and tied for third in triples (4).

Inside the circle, Smith has made 29 appearances with 20 starts holding a 3.48 ERA with seven complete games and 92 strikeouts across 126.2 innings of work.
