Blue Devils Set to Host ACC Softball Championship; Earn No. 1 Seed


DURHAM – After finishing with a 20-4 ACC ledger, fifth-ranked Duke softball secured the program’s first regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming ACC Championship, the league announced Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Devils are set to host the championship at Duke Softball Stadium, beginning Wednesday at 1 p.m.

As the No. 1 seed, the Blue Devils received a first-round bye and will play the winner of eighth-seed Syracuse and ninth-seeded Boston College on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the quarterfinals.

ACC Network and ESPN2 will provide 18 hours of live coverage of the ACC Softball Championship. The first three rounds will be broadcast on ACC Network, with on-site studio coverage between games. ESPN2 will carry the championship game on Saturday.

Ticket books for the full tournament are available for $12-25, which include tickets to all nine games, including the championship game on Saturday. Single-session tickets are also available, with prices ranging from $5-10. Tickets are now available by visiting theACC.com, GoDuke.com or by calling the Duke Athletics Ticket Office at 919-681-6767. All tickets will be digital and sent via mobile delivery before the championship starts.

Four other ACC teams join the Blue Devils in the most recent top 25 of the NFCA/USA Today poll in No. 12 Florida State, No. 16 Virginia Tech and No. 23 Clemson.
