Softball Earns Highest Big Ten Tournament Seed In Program History

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers softball begins its Big Ten Tournament run as the number three seed on Thursday.

The Scarlet Knights played their way 33-21 overall and 14-9 Big Ten record to earn the program’s highest seed since joining the league beginning with the 2015 season.

With the number three seed, RU will earn a bye and open post-season play on Thursday, May 9 in the quarterfinals at 8 p.m. (ET) against the winner of No. 6 Ohio State or No. 11 Wisconsin.

With a victory, the Scarlet Knights will advance to the semifinals on Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. (ET) while the championship game will be on Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m. (ET).

All games will be played at Bob Pearl Field on the campus of the University of Iowa and air on the Big Ten Network.

 

The Rutgers softball program is currently playing in its 50th season “On The Banks”. The 2024 Scarlet Knights captured the first-ever back-to-back 30-win season, the most wins in Big Ten play and the most Big Ten series wins in program history. As a team, Rutgers has captured school records in runs scored and runs batted in while individually, Katie Wingert set the school’s career home run, RBI and walks records, Kyleigh Sand has established new benchmarks for runs scored in a season and career and Morgan Smith bested the season RBI record.
