Taylor Pannell Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following a stellar final weekend of the regular season, Tennessee’s Taylor Pannell has been selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week.

The redshirt freshman led the Lady Vols offensively, going 7-for-13 (.538) at the plate in their sweep of No. 24 Kentucky.

Hitting a home run in each game – her final long ball of the weekend came on Saturday in the bottom of the eighth inning to give UT a walk-off victory and a series sweep. Pannell had three three-RBI games against the Wildcats while posting an OPS of 1.769.

This marks the first career weekly honor for the Milan, Illinois, native and is the sixth award garnered by a Lady Vol this softball season.

Pannell’s performance lifted the Lady Vols to their second straight SEC regular season title this past weekend. Tennessee enters the 2024 SEC Softball Tournament as the first overall seed and will play its first game on Thursday, May 9 at 11 a.m. ET.
