Florida State Defeats Notre Dame, Advances to Semifinals of ACC Softball Championship

DURHAM, N.C. (theACC.com) – No. 2 seed Florida State dropped No. 10 seed Notre Dame, 2-0, in the third quarterfinals game on Thursday evening in the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship at the Duke Softball Stadium.

The Seminoles advance to face the winner of the No. 3 seed Virginia Tech and No. 6 seed Georgia Tech in the final quarterfinals matchup of the day.

Two home runs proved to be the difference for Florida State as freshman Kennedy Harp sent a blast to center field in the third inning and Kalei Harding homered to right center in the sixth.

Allison Royalty (7-5) earned the win in the circle for the Seminoles while Ashtyn Danley picked up her second save of the season to secure FSU’s 16th straight first-round game win in the ACC Softball Championship.

Notre Dame tallied four hits in the contest. Alexis Laudenslager started in the circle for the Irish and threw 5.1 innings, allowing the two homers off with a pair of walks, before Shannon Becker came on in relief, throwing the final 0.2 innings.

The semifinals of the 2024 ACC Softball Championship will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, on ACC Network with top-seeded Duke facing No. 5 seed Clemson. FSU’s semifinal matchup will follow at 3:30 p.m.
