LSU’s first outing at the SEC softball tournament on Wednesday against Alabama could best be described as a marathon.
It lasted a tournament-record 14 innings but behind an incredible pitching performance from Sydney Berzon — who set another tournament record with 208 pitches in a complete game — the Tigers eventually walked it off with a deep double from Taylor Pleasants.
Now, LSU moves on to face No. 1-seeded Tennessee in the quarterfinal round on Thursday morning. The teams have a decent amount of familiarity with each other after facing off in Knoxville just a few weeks ago.
The Tigers managed to steal one in the middle, but they lost both Games 1 and 3 in 3-0 shutout fashion.
They’re hoping for a better result this time around. Here’s what you need to know to watch and follow the action on Thursday against the Volunteers.
