Brody Harding and Ryan Moerman helped power the Fighting Illini baseball team to a 4-1 week, jump-started by a 21-11 win on Tuesday over No. 24-ranked Indiana State before taking two of three in a weekend series vs. Ohio State. In the Illini’s seven-inning victory over Indiana State, Moerman went 4-for-5 at the plate with three home runs and a career-high nine RBI, one short of the program record. Moerman’s three-homer day pushed him to 15 for the season to take over the Big Ten lead. Harding, in the three-game set vs. the Buckeyes, hit .727 (8-for-11) with six runs, a double, a home run, two walks and seven RBI. He posted a huge day at the plate in the Illini’s 12-2 victory on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with two runs, a home run and a career-high five RBI.
Harding, from Moline, Ill., is a redshirt senior in the Gies College of Business where he is pursuing a certificate in strategic leadership & management and has a 3.55 GPA. Moerman, a junior from Lockport, Ill., has a 3.33 GPA studying agriculture & consumer economics.
