Vega’s Walk-Off Home Run Sends Duke to ACC Semifinals

Clemson

DURHAM – Sophomore Aminah Vega blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to walk off ninth-seeded Boston College, 2-0, and send Duke into the ACC Semifinals on Thursday afternoon at Duke Softball Stadium.

Vega finished 2-for-5 on the day with a home run and a single to lead the Blue Devil offense. Senior Claire Davidson also registered two hits following a pair of doubles, including one right before Vega’s long ball.

Senior Jala Wright dominated inside the circle, surrendering just five hits and three walks in her 10.0 innings of work. The Charlotte, N.C., native also fanned 17 batters during the contest to set a single-game program record.

  • Vega finally broke through in the bottom of the 10th with a two-run shot over the left center field wall to walk it off, 2-0. Her long ball also brought home Davidson, who led off with a double to left center.
