O’Hoppe Homers Again as Reading Drops Sunday Contest in Hartford

Ockimey's Homer Not Enough against Hartford

The Reading Fightin Phils dropped Sunday’s contest at the Hartford Yard Goats, 7-2. Logan O’Hoppe notched a home run for a team-high eleven on the season.

Ali Castillo, Kevin Vicuna, and Jack Conley all had a multi hit contest. Hunter Markwardt recorded a outfield assist throwing a runner out at second from left field.


Hartford scored first putting up two runs in the first on Jimmy Herron’s long ball.

Reading countered with one of their own as O’Hoppe belted a ball out to left field.

In the bottom of the second Niko Decolati scored on a wild pitch to take back the run.

In both the fifth and the sixth innings, the Yard Goats added two runs on the board. They led 7-1.

The Fightins were able to tack on one more as Conley led off the seventh with a triple. Castillo sent him home to finish the scoring 7-2.

Two Fightins were ejected in the contest for the second game in a row. Vito Friscia and first base coach Mycal Jones were tossed arguing a the back end of a double play call at first.

Ethan Evanko opened the game for two innings of work. He allowed three runs on four hits.

Braden Zarbnisky followed for two of his own. The righty threw up two zeros on the scoreboard and striking out three.

McKinley Moore pitched one frame letting up two runs but striking out the side.

Matt Seelinger tossed an inning allowing two runs on two hits.

Ofreidy Gomez took the eighth and sent down Hartford 1-2-3 for the first time in the contest.

Brian Marconi threw the ninth allowing two hits and no runs.
