QUICK HITS

  • Freshman Andrew Fischer set the program record for home runs by a rookie on Friday at No. 11 Boston College, hitting his eighth of the season to right field. He moved ahead of Biff Bracey who hit seven in 1963. He added to his total on Sunday, delivering the knockout blow in the top of the ninth, with his ninth home run of the year.
  • Duke Baseball has recorded 200 of its 303 runs this season during the fourth through eighth innings. That number accounts for 66.0% of the Blue Devils’ runs.
  • The Blue Devils have recorded 112 two-out RBI this season, accounting for 36.9% of the runs scored. Junior Jay Beshears leads the team with 14 two-out RBI, followed closely by graduate transfer Giovanni DiGiacomo with 13.
  • Freshman lefty James Tallon continues to slam the door on opponents this season, collecting his eighth save of the campaign on Friday afternoon at No. 11 Boston College. His eight career saves move him into a tie for 15th all-time in program history with David Putman and he is on pace to break the single season mark of 11 set by Kenny Koplove in 2015.
  • The 58 home runs hit by the Blue Devils this season are the seventh most in a single season for Duke and the fourth most under head coach Chris Pollard. The record for a single season is 90, set by the 1994 squad.
