CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 14 Virginia (30-11) will wrap up hits five-game homestand on Tuesday (April 23) when it hosts Liberty (17-22) at Disharoon Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the contest is scheduled to air live on ACCNX.

LEADING OFF

  • Virginia dropped four spots in the D1Baseball.com poll to No. 14 after a 2-3 week that included home series loss to Georgia Tech this past weekend. Virginia has been as high as No. 9 (March 25) and as low as No. 17 (March 11) in the D1Baseball poll this season.
  • UVA is one of 12 teams nationally at the 30-win mark after the first 10 weeks of the season. The Cavaliers are tied with North Carolina for the third-most wins in the ACC.
  • Virginia enters Tuesday with an 18-game win streak against in-state foes at Disharoon Park. Its last home loss against a Commonwealth school was on May 1, 2022 against Virginia Tech. Since opening in 2002, Virginia is 162-26 (.862) against in-state foes at The Dish.
  • The Cavaliers lost their first midweek game in almost two years, a span of 29 games, after dropping a 7-4 decision to ODU on April 16 at Harbor Park in Norfolk. Virginia bounced back the next day with a 11-5 win over George Mason, its 26th straight midweek win at home.
  • Virginia is 16-2 against non-conference opponents this season and has won 35 of its last 37 games against non-conference foes in the regular season.
  • Virginia is 19-5 at home this season and seeking its third-straight season with 20 or more home wins. The Cavaliers have won 20 or more home games in 17 of the last 20 seasons under Brian O’Connor, only missing the 20-win mark in 2015 (National Champions), 2020 (CoVID19 – only 15 home games) and 2021 (College World Series appearance). UVA set the program record with 42 home wins last season.

  • Tuesday will be the 67th all-time meeting between Liberty and Virginia, two schools home ballparks separated by a little over 68 miles on US-29.
  • Virginia owns a 43-22-1 advantage in the all-time series that was first played in 1976, a 16-6 UVA victory in Charlottesville.
