Week 12 SEC baseball power rankings after LSU beats No. 1 Texas A&M

Where LSU stands in our Week 11 SEC baseball power rankings

The Week 11 conference slate was highlighted by one huge upset and one heavyweight battle.

LSU welcomed the No. 1 team in the country into town and then took two out of three games against Texas A&M to dethrone the Aggies. Thanks to that, there is a new No. 1 team in the country and a new No. 1 team in my power rankings.

The other huge series in the SEC last weekend was a series that saw the teams with the two best records in the conference face off against each other. Arkansas and Kentucky went blow for blow in a three-round heavyweight fight and the Wildcats came out on top in it.

Here’s how our full SEC power rankings look entering Week 12.

Auburn hosted Ole Miss last weekend as they looked to try to win their way into the SEC Tournament. The series did not turn out the way they wanted as Ole Miss took two out of three games from the Tigers to keep them buried in the standings. Auburn will travel to Missouri this weekend.

Missouri lost two out of three games to South Carolina last weekend to fall to 7-17 in conference play. They will welcome the Auburn Tigers into town this weekend in a battle of the two worst teams in the SEC.

Ole Miss took two out of three from Auburn last weekend to keep the Rebels in the conversation for the SEC tournament. Ole Miss will now take on an angry Texas A&M team as the Aggies try to recover from losing to LSU.

Last weekend was probably the best weekend of baseball LSU has experienced this season. The Tigers welcomed the No. 1 team in the country into Baton Rouge and then won the series against them to improve to 9-15 in conference play. LSU is currently considered one of the first four teams out in regional projections so they will look to improve their resume against Alabama this weekend.

The Gators dropped the weekend series to the Tennessee Volunteers and they are rewarded with a series against the Kentucky Wildcats who are the second-best team in the conference at the moment.
