LOCATION: Albany Field – Albany, N.Y.
 
RECORDS: UAlbany 13-11, 2-2 America East | Maine 5-25, 1-2 America East
 
SHORT STORY: After a three-hour delay, the Great Danes and the Black Bears took the field. UAlbany won the first game, 5-1, before the teams began the second game of the weekend series, Saturday.

KEY STATS


Senior Maranda Jimenez led from the plate. Going 2-3, both of her hits tallied multiple bases – a double and a home run.
Jimenez and freshman Sierra Fretz totaled two RBI each.
Seven of the 10 Great Danes’ batters notched at least one hit.
Four UAlbany runners crossed home – Jimenez (twice), junior Caitlyn Mitros, graduate student Katie Falotico, and junior Emma Adams.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED


Junior pitcher Wendi Hammond opened the contest with a strikeout. 
The Black Bears tallied what proved to be their only run of the game in the first inning.
Leading off for the Great Danes, Caitlyn Mitros singled up the middle to get on base.
