Wilson Homers But Claws Fall 7-4 Thursday in Wilmington

BlueClaws, Cyclones Split Friday Pair

WILMINGTON, DE – Ethan Wilson homered for Jersey Shore but Wilmington topped the BlueClaws 7-4 on Thursday night at Frawley Stadium.

Jersey Shore (26-46) has dropped two of the first three in Wilmington (38-33) this week.


The Blue Rocks jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the third. Kevin Strohschein’s second home run of the year opened the scoring and Jordan Barley stole third and scored on a throwing error on catcher Herbert Iser.

Jersey Shore came back to take the lead in the fifth inning. Uziel Viloria singled home a run to make it 2-1. Ethan Wilson added a two-run home run, his fifth of the season, to put the BlueClaws up 3-2.

After Dominic Pipkin came out after five innings and two runs, JP Woodward (3-4) took over in the sixth. Wilmington tied the game on a groundout by Ricardo Mendez and took the lead on an RBI single from Strohschein.

Wilmington scored three more times in the bottom of the seventh to extend their lead. Baron Radcliff doubled home a run for the BlueClaws in the top of the eighth inning.

Wilson had two hits and DJ Stewart stole his 15th base for Jersey Shore.

Blue Rocks reliever Carlos Romero (4-4) earned the win and Jose Ferrer picked up his fifth save.

The teams continue their series on Friday night at 6:35 pm. RHP Mick Abel starts for Jersey Shore.
