Vance Honeycutt inked as top prospect in 2024 MLB Draft

Vance Honeycutt makes history for Diamond Heels

The UNC baseball program will enter the 2023 season with one of the top players in college baseball and one that is highly regarded as the top prospect in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Outfielder Vance Honeycutt was named as the top overall draft prospect for the 2024 draft, per Perfect Game USA. Honeycutt was also named the ACC Player of the Year.

Last season, Honeycutt hit .296/.409/.672 while hitting 25 home runs, driving in 57 runs and stealing 29 bases. He helped lead North Carolina to a Regional win and to the Super Regionals before they were eliminated.

As a freshman, he was a consensus Freshman All-America. He became the first player in UNC baseball history to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in the same season.

He earned five All-American honors following his freshman season and was a Third-Team All-ACC selection.

Honeycutt was ranked inside the top 10 in the ACC in stolen bases (2nd), home runs (4th), sacrifice bunts (5th), triples (5th), total bases (6th), at bats (8th), runs scored (10th) and slugging percentage (10th).
