Blue Devils Ranked No. 22 in D1 Softball Preseason Poll

DURHAMD1Softball.com ranked Duke No. 22 in the nation according to its 2023 preseason rankings, the publication announced Tuesday.

Head Coach Marissa Young returns 14-of-24 members from last year’s team that posted a 44-11 record and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history.

In addition, six new faces are set to take the field this season for the Blue Devils in five freshmen and one transfer sophomore. The freshmen class was ranked ninth nationally and marks the second-straight season with a top-10 class for Young, after adding the fourth-ranked class in 2021.

Duke opens the 2023 season at the Mark Campbell Invitational, presented by Premier Girls Fastpitch, in Irvine, Calif., on Feb. 9-11. The Blue Devils are slated to face three opponents, all of which were ranked in D1 Softball’s preseason top-25, with games against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 21 Washington and No. 11 Stanford.
