Knights Blast the Sounds 8-5 on Saturday Night

Knights Beat the Redbirds 11-4 in Sunday's Finale

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) – The Charlotte Knights pounded out eight runs on 15 hits en route to a commanding 8-5 win over the Nashville Sounds in game five of the six-game series from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday night. With the win, the Knights took a 3-2 lead in the series. The two teams will play the finale on Sunday night.


Down by a score of 5-0, the Knights battled back and put up a seven-run fourth inning to get past the Sounds. Third baseman Zach Remillard started the scoring off with a solo home run, his ninth of the season. Three batters later, right fielder Craig Dedelow launched a three-run home run, his third of the season with the Knights.

The seven-run inning continued with a solo blast from catcher Carlos Pérez, his 20th of the year. Pérez, who was celebrating his 26th birthday, finished the game with two hits and two RBIs. Dedelow led the way with three RBIs on the evening.

A total of six Charlotte batters had a least two hits in the game. Remillard’s two hits bumped his average up to a team-leading .297 on the year. Center fielder Mark Payton chipped in with two hits to push his average to .294 on the season.

Nashville starter Tyler Herb was saddled with the loss after he was charged with seven runs (all in the fourth inning) on 10 hits over 3.1 innings pitched.

LHP Yoan Aybar (1-3, 8.42) earned the win out of the Charlotte bullpen despite allowing two runs in the fourth inning. LHP Andrew Perez recorded the final three outs of the game in the ninth inning to notch his second save of the season. For Perez, it was his team-leading 52nd appearance of the year.

The Knights will conclude the six-game home series against the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers) on Sunday night from Truist Field. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. from the home of the Knights.
